Roy's Story
Roy is a cellist with the Maui Pops Orchestra, a music teacher, and a bow repair technician. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education, Cum Laude, from Eastern Michigan University in 2014. After teaching 5th-12th grade stringed orchestra in the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation, he was presented with the wonderful opportunity to move to Maui, relocating in 2018. Roy has performed on cello for the Firelands Symphony Orchestra, the Heidelberg Symphony, and the Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra as well as subbing with the Toledo Symphony. Roy has attended the Violin Society of America's Summer Bow Restoration Workshop hosted by Oberlin College twice and the National String Repair Clinic hosted by UW-Madison. Roy currently works with students at Pomaikai and Kahului Elementary Schools teaching Orff instruments, ukulele, and orchestra.
