We are thrilled to announce that Traixton Pua-McIntosh has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Karla Bartholomy Memorial Scholarship at Maui School for Strings!

This special scholarship, made possible through the generosity of our incredible supporters and Maui School for Strings, provides a full year of weekly 30-minute cello lessons. It is awarded annually to a promising young Maui cellist, and this year, Traixton's application stood out in a truly moving way. The heartfelt statement shared by Traixton’s auntie deeply resonated with our selection committee, capturing the spirit and purpose of this scholarship. Traixton attends Iao Intermediate School in Wailuku and plays cello with the Maui Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Karla Bartholomy Memorial Scholarship honors not only musical potential but also the strength of ʻohana and the power of community support. We are overjoyed to welcome Traixton and his family into our musical ʻohana, and we look forward to witnessing his growth and joy through music in the coming year.
This opportunity would not be possible without the generosity of our devoted donors. We extend our warmest mahalo to Peggy and Ron Schecter, Jerry and Marieke Cummins, and Harm and Dot Brouwer for their continued support and dedication to nurturing young musicians here on Maui. Your contributions are making a lasting impact — not just in music education, but in the lives of our keiki and their families.
Please join us in celebrating Traixton and this exciting new chapter in his musical journey!
With gratitude and aloha,
Roy D. Binder
